SUZAN FRECON recent watercolors
at Lawrence Markey
New York, NY
May 12–June 12, 2004
Lawrence Markey is pleased to announce our upcoming exhibition of recent watercolors by Suzan Frecon. This will be Frecon's seventh solo exhibition at Lawrence Markey Gallery, since her first in 1993.
This will also be the gallery's final exhibition in New York. Following this exhibition, Lawrence Markey Gallery will be moving to San Antonio, Texas. A press release regarding our move will follow separately.
Suzan Frecon's watercolors are marked by her rich and particular palette of deep reds, ochres and indigo. Abstract forms seem to stretch or bleed or layer into existence. Frecon maneuvers ever skillfully and surprisingly within the watercolor medium; at once conjuring a delicate structure of light infused strokes; or building the paint to a dense, earthy mass. The watercolors seem timeless, emerging into being through equal parts intuition and artistic rigor.
Suzan Frecon last exhibited her watercolors at her solo exhibition entitled drawing painting, at the Drawing Center's Drawing Room, New York, January–February 2002.
