FRED SANDBACK Recent Work
at Lawrence Markey
May 6–June 17, 2000
Lawrence Markey is pleased to announce the upcoming exhibition of recent works by Fred Sandback -- inaugurating our new gallery space at 42 East 76th Street.
In April of 1990, Fred Sandback inaugurated our gallery space at 55 Vandam Street, which was our address for the past ten years, with his Seven Part Vertical Construction, 1990.
The upcoming exhibition will include new work in colored yarn, Sandback's signature medium for the past 30 years, as well as Sandback's recent Bas-Relief's -- single or multi-paneled pieces of painted or unpainted wood, incised with lines of varying width and depth.
With the slightest of means, through subtle interventions, Sandback's yarn works articulate and alter one's experience of a space, as they define themselves and the space they occupy.
